William Scott Winzer, 71, of Augusta, KS, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023 at his farm. Memorial funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023 with visitation and lunch following at First Baptist Church, Augusta. A private family burial will precede the service.
William "Scott" was born on March 13, 1952 as the second son of the late Bill and Virginia (Long) Winzer. He graduated from Berean Academy in 1970 after only attending there for one year. He had saved money from custom harvesting to be able to attend and graduate from Berean. He married Karen (Brouhard) on November 4, 1974 at his Uncle Jim's house outside Douglass, KS. He was a member of the Augusta First Church of the Nazarene. He was a former board member of the Branches Pregnancy and Family Center (previously known as PFRC). He worked at Dustrol as a Parts Manager until he retired in 2016. He was a conversationalist extraordinaire, collector of treasures, auction aficionado, and empathizer of all. He loved singing, his dog "Buddy," bonfires, and his grandchildren. Scott never met a stranger. He faithfully followed Hebrews 13:2, "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."
Scott is survived by his wife of 49 years, Karen (Brouhard) Winzer. He is survived by one sister; Karla (Will) Nuce of Park City, KS, and one brother; David (Kathy) Winzer of Coulee Dam, Washington and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two sons: Seth (Robyn) Winzer of Whitewater, KS, and Nathan (Siria) Winzer of Basehor, KS. He is survived by 17 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was predeceased in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Mike Brouhard. In lieu of flowers please send memorial donations to Branches Pregnancy and Family Center, 226 S Main, El Dorado, KS 67042 or Berean Academy, 201 S Elbing Rd, Elbing, KS 67041.
