Wilbur Arden "Wally" Wallingford, 96, of Atlanta, KS, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022 in Winfield, KS. Visitation 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2022 at Headley Funeral Chapel. Service 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Christ Lutheran Church, Augusta, KS. Private burial at Admire Cemetery, Admire, KS. Wally was born in Council Grove, KS on December 29, 1925, to the late Ruth (Pratt) and William Alvin Wallingford. He graduated from high school in Ava, MO in 1944. Wally served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a machinist at Boeing for many years and retired in 1990. After retirement, Wally farmed for many years. Wally enjoyed reading, collecting different types of barbed wire and other unique items, going on trips, and going to fairs, farm shows, and barbed wire shows. On December 20, 1953 he married Myrtha Helen (Hardin) Wallingford in Blackwell, OK who survives him. He is also survived by: sons, David Neal Wallingford (Sherrie Parker) of Orting, WA, James Von Wallingford (Misti) of Cambridge, KS, Robert Alan Wallingford (Gayla) of Atlanta, KS; daughters, Helen Thomas of Atlanta, KS, Ruth Ann Payne (Raymond) of Belle Plain, KS, Sharla Faye Wallingford of Garland, TX; daughter in law, Beth Wallingford of Augusta, KS; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brother, James "Fred" Wallingford (Carolina) of Oklahoma City, OK; sisters, Reva Ann Everett of Great Bend, KS, Ida May Arnold of Mulvane, KS, Rutha Jane Maloney of Oklahoma City, OK. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Lee Wallingford; brothers, Perry Lee, Floyd Earl, Carl Estin, William Alvin, Paul Emerson, and George Wallingford; sisters, Edith Merle Smith, Ella Jean Bannister, Laura Ardith Landsdown.
