Virgie Motes Obituary

Virgie Irene Motes, 98, of Augusta, Kansas, quietly passed away in her home on Tuesday, June 4, 2019.

Virgie was born on March 20, 1921 in Midco, Missouri to the late Dorothy "Dollie"  Sophia (Boyd) and Benjamin Levi Keeling.

Virgie is survived by: her daughter, Joyce McElhiney (Tom); grandson, Donny McElhiney of Augusta; granddaughters, Donna Marie Gillespie of Moses Lake, Washington, and Angela Dodd (Jeremy) of Towanda, Kansas; great grandsons, Cory Gillespie of Wichita, and Colby Dodd of Towanda; niece, Carol Irey (Roger) of Davenport, Iowa; several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; seven sisters; son, Kenneth Elliott; grandson, Chris McElhiney; husband, Donald Elliott; husband, Gerald Motes.

Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta, KS. Service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2019 at First Baptist Church, 1501 State St., Augusta, KS. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery Augusta, KS.

Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church Preschool, 1501 State St., Augusta,KS.

The family of Virgie would like to thank Interim Home Health and Hospice for their care.
