Shirley Jean Ludwig

Shirley Jean Ludwig, 88, of Augusta, KS, devoted wife and loving mother, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023 in El Dorado, KS. Visitation 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2023 at Headley Funeral Chapel. Service 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Grace Lutheran Church, El Dorado, KS with burial following at 2:45 p.m. at Resthaven Cemetery Wichita, KS. Shirley was born in Hallam, NE on May 5, 1934, to the late Katherine (Ommen) and Dick Asseln. Shirley grew up on the family farm outside of Craig, Iowa. She graduated from LeMars High School. Shirley worked as a telephone operator and office manager for Consumer Electric both in Geneva, NE. On February 27, 1960 she married Raymond Leroy Ludwig in Bruning, NE. They had two children, Rick and Diane. Shirley enjoyed antiques, gardening, and traveling the country with her family showing their many registered quarter horses. Raymond preceded her in death in 2015. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Richardson; siblings, Marvin Asseln, Lorene Harms, Elmer Asseln, and Kathleen Cronin. She is survived by: son, Rick Ludwig and wife Shannon of El Dorado; son in law, Earl Richardson of Ohio; grandchildren, Danielle Anderson (Mark) of Denver, CO, Kayla Rosemeyer (Daniel) of Forney, TX, Nick Lipscomb of Wichita, Monica Evans of El Dorado, and Matt Lipscomb (Lauren) of Tulsa OK; great grandchildren, Korbyn, Rachel, Riley, Jaxson, Jameson, Jagger, and Raelynn.
