Obituary

Robert Joe McCalla, 85, of Augusta, KS, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023. Visitation from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta with graveside service to follow at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2023, at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta. Robert was born in Augusta, KS on April 4, 1938, to the late Norma (Stinnett) Haigler and Jesse Alvin McCalla. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 6 years. He was a TCC Operator at Mobil Refinery and had also been contract hauler for the Wichita Eagle.  Robert also owned Buy and Sell in Augusta and later White Eagle Antique Mall. He was an avid WSU Shocker fan. On September 18, 1960 he married Beverly (Pippin) McCalla in Augusta, KS who survives him. He is also survived by: son, Robert Dale McCalla; grandson, Robert Paul McCalla; great grandchildren, Kristina Renee, Alyssa Nicole, and Robert James "JB" McCalla; great great grandchild, Evelyn May; and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his son, James L. McCalla; sister, Betty.
