Olen Frank Chance

Olen Frank Chance, 88, of Augusta, KS passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022. Rosary 9:30 a.m. followed by Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 3, 2022 at St. James Catholic Church, Augusta, KS. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Augusta, KS. Olen was born 5 miles west of Douglass, KS on May 26, 1934, to the late Virginia Francis (McCurry) and Frank Burris Chance. He grew up in Gordon, KS, and raised his family in Augusta, KS. He retired as a jig builder from Boeing after 42 years. Olen worked hard, played hard, and gave thanks to God for all of his help. He considered raising his children to be one of his greatest achievements. On February 3, 1956 he married Lois Irene (Goucher) Chance. They were blessed with 5 children: sons, Bob Chance and wife Connie, Bryan Chance and wife Dulcie, and Bruce Chance and wife Jill; daughters, Kim Franklin, and Kathy Wiens and husband Aaron. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Lois; parents, Frank and Virginia; and sister, Phyllis Mitchell.  He is survived by his loving friend and companion, Opal Alford, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
