Maxine Smith

Maxine Smith was born November 18, 1921 to Lena and Wesley Dennett.  She was raised on a farm and attended Floral and Browntown Schools and then went to Augusta High School where she graduated in 1938.  On February 17, 1941 she married her high school sweetheart, Bill Smith.  They had 3 children; Sandra, David, and Michael.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, Oct . 21, 1984 and her son, David, January 20, 1996; also by her brother, Gerald Dennett and sister, Virginia Cyphers.  Her survivors include daughter, Sandra Payton, son, Michael Smith of Augusta and daughter-in-law, Barbara (Leedom) Poirier of Morrison, Colorado; 5 grandsons, Kurt Payton, Aaron Payton, of Augusta, and Lance Smith of Thornton, Colorado, Andrew Smith of Lakewood, Colorado and Matthew Smith of Evergreen, Colorado and 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Service 3 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2019 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta.  Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta. Memorial donations to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
