Hugh Douglas Van Buskirk, 76, of Towanda, KS, passed away Monday, August 12, 2019 at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover. Doug was born in Lockwood, Missouri on August 16, 1942, to the late Iva May (Heiskell) and James Hugh Van Buskirk. He graduated from Benton High School in 1960 and served in the U.S. Army as a hospital corpsman and post office master in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Doug's life occupation was a machinist at Beech Aircraft retiring in 2003 after 41 years. On December 8, 1972 he married Janet "Jan" (Ellison) Van Buskirk and she survives him. He is also survived by: son, Landon Van Buskirk and wife Monica of Towanda; granddaughter, Henrietta Van Buskirk; brothers, Dan Van Buskirk and wife Marion of Andover; Darrell Van Buskirk of Wichita; and Bill Van Buskirk and wife Julie of Amarillo, Tex.; brother-in-law Brent Bocock of Wichita; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jean Bocock. Visitation Sunday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and service 11 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2019, all at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Burial will follow at Towanda Cemetery Towanda, Kansas.
