Helen Lance, 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, December 14, 2020 at her home in Augusta, KS.
Visitation 9:00 a.m. at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta with graveside service to follow at 10:00 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta, KS both Saturday, December 19, 2020 with step son, Loice G. Lance officiating.
Helen was born in Neoga, IL on October 16, 1936, to Fern Rhoads and William Burnis Blair.
A long time resident of DerQuoin, IL, she greatly enjoyed her work as a dietician at Marshall Browning Hospital for over 25 years. After some traveling, she settled in Augusta, KS for her remaining retirement years. Helen enjoyed garage and yard sales, and was an avid volunteer. She continued to be giving, charitable, and involved in the Augusta community and her church, Central Baptist of Augusta, KS to her last days.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Fern Rhoads; father, Burnis Blair; longtime husband, Loice C. Lance; sister, Mary Quin; great granddaughter, April Green.
She is survived by: son, Andrew Junior Gill of West Franklin, IL; daughters, Lois Tinkey and husband Dean of Augusta, KS, Leigh Lance, Burnis Lance of Overland Park, KS, Leila Lance of San Jose, CA; son, Jack Edward Lance of San Jose, CA; brothers, William, Donald, and Bubby Blair of Paris, IL; 6 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and whose lives she touched.
