Esther Theresa (Doll) Leis

Esther Theresa (Doll) Leis, Sept 5, 1931 - Sept 20, 2021. Esther was born to Magdalena and Paul Doll in Colwich, KS. She grew up on a farm and graduated from the 8th grade at St. Mark's Catholic School. She worked in Wichita as an upstairs ladies' attendant before getting married. After getting married, Esther and her husband Marcus moved to the Andover/Augusta area and both worked briefly at Steffan's Dairy in Wichita, KS. She raised seven children, Darrell (Linda), Paul, Beverly Rossio (Gary), Michael (Louise), Donna Meek (Terry), Richard (Danette), Theresa Gray (Chris) while helping with life on the farm and working part time as a personal companion. Esther and Marcus enjoyed a 56 year marriage until his death in 2007. Esther was a founding member of St. Vincent de Paul's Catholic Church in Andover, KS. She always lived her life to glorify God. Esther was an active member of multiple parish Altar Societies throughout her life, and a beloved member of her longtime quilting group. She is preceded in death by the love of her life Marcus Leis and her four brothers, Cletus, Clarence, Wilfred, and Marvin. She is survived by her five sisters, Pauline Weinger, Alfreda Stanley, Jo An Doll,  Louise Rohlman, and Geneva Demel; all seven of her children; grandchildren, Melissa, Paul David, Selina, Patrick, Kevin (Melanie), Jenni (Tim), Jeff (Hilary), Lindsay, Keith (Kayla), Greg (Megan) Shelly (Scott), Christopher (Erica), Matthew, Kirsten (Timothy), Sarah (Dakota), Diana, Joshua, Jacob; 23 great grandchildren: Taylor, Jason, Casey, Landon, Danica, Sutton, Shane, Gage, Lilly, Lucas, Alexa, Harper, Carly, Henry, Tanner, Kimber, Hadley, Cecilia, Harvey, Ali, Sophia, Timber, and Kolbe; brother-in-law, Roy Stanley; and sisters-in-law, Joyce Leis-Jones, Geraldine Doll and Lila Leis. Rosary will be held Thursday, Sept. 23rd at 7 p.m. and Funeral Mass, Friday Sept 24th at 11 a.m. all at St. James Catholic Church, Augusta, KS. Interment will follow at Dunlap Cemetery, rural Rose Hill, KS.
