Elaine Joyce (Rowland) Cooper, 85, of Augusta, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 in Augusta, KS. Visitation 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2021 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Service 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2021, at First Baptist Church, Augusta, KS. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery Augusta, KS. Elaine was born in Newton, Kansas on June 23, 1935, to the late Genevieve Marietta (Van Bibber) and Roy Veree Rowland. She worked as a registered nurse at Susan B. Allen Hospital, El Dorado, KS, Mt. Carmel Hospital and Medicalodge of Pittsburg, KS, Augusta Medical Complex, and for Dr. Louis Morgan, MD Family Practice, Wichita, KS. Elaine was a member of First Baptist Church, Augusta. She was a member of the Loyal Heirs Sunday School Class, she sang in the church choir, and participated in other small groups where she could let her Christianity shine. On September 20, 1958 she married Rufus LaVern "Vern" Cooper and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Duane Rowland and a sister, Jolene Broomfield. Elaine is survived by: daughters, Kimberly Cooper of Wichita; and Denise Cooper of Augusta; brother, James Rowland and wife Dianne of Philadelphia, PA; brother-in-law, John Broomfield of Towanda; sister-in-law, Beverly Rowland of Augusta; and grandchildren, Arianna and Caleb McElwee.
