Velma June Winger

Velma "June" (Brunner) (Pierce) Winger, 100, of Augusta, KS, passed away Friday, August 7, 2026 at home. Visitation 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2026at Headley Funeral Chapel. Service 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church, Augusta, KS. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery Augusta, KS. June was born in Onieda, KS on August 15, 1925, to the late Margaret (Strube) and Rupdoph "Rudy" Brunner. She had worked as a bookkeeper and later sold Avon for over thirty years. She was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church. June also enjoyed going to the Augusta Senior Center. She found great joy in helping other people. In December of 1946 she married Carl Pierce in Powhattan, KS and he preceded her in death in May of 1996. Later in May of 1997 she married William Russell Winger in Eureka Springs, AR. He preceded her in death in 2015. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Edward and Roger Pierce, Sr.; sisters, Jean Pardee, Vauncille Barret, Patricia Nobis, and Janice Grub; son in law, Bill Barlow. She is survived by: daughters, Sharon Barlow of Missouri, and Jackie Pierce of Augusta, KS; son, Ronald Pierce and wife Dana of Augusta, KS; step son, Clinton Winger of Augusta, KS; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren.
