Roberta Marie Hanson, retired U.S. government civil service employee, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior at the age of 95 on September 17, 2026. An open viewing time will take place from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta, KS. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Green Valley Cemetery, Furley, KS. Roberta was born in Kechi, KS on March 29, 1931, the only child of Clifford and Waunita Hanson. She graduated as valedictorian of her class at Whitewater High School. Her career as a civil service secretary took her to many places and countries including Washington D.C. at the Pentagon, Germany, Oklahoma, and Colorado. After retirement, she resided in Augusta, KS and was a longtime member and choir participant at the First Baptist Church. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed visiting and playing cards at family get-togethers with cousins. Survivors include many cousins and friends. Memorial donations to First Baptist Church, 1501 State Street, Augusta, KS 67010.
Roberta will be deeply missed, but we do not mourn as those who have no hope. For we know that when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to His own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life (Titus 3:4-7). If you, like Roberta, confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved (Romans 10:9-10).
