Doctor Melodee Rae Armfield (née Brice), 66, of Augusta KS passed away on July 16, 2025 in Wichita, surrounded by her loving family. She was the oldest child of Vera and Raymond Brice of El Dorado. Melodee is survived by her husband of 44 years, Mark Armfield. She was the proud parent of children, Natalee Dye husband John Dye of Wichita and Collin Armfield wife Alexandra Armfield of Portland Oregon, and proud grandparent of Sylvee Dye. Melodee is predeceased by her parents Vera and Raymond Brice and sister, Vera Anne Smith. She is survived by her brother, Kyle Brice and sister, Susan Unruh.

Melodee called Butler County, KS her home for her entire life. She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1977, then attended Butler County Community College and later Wichita State University. Melodee graduated summa cum laude in 1980 from WSU with a degree in medical technology.

While attending WSU, Melodee met her future husband, Mark Armfield, in an organic chemistry class. They were married on December 27th of 1980. After working as a microbiologist, Melodee decided to follow her husband Mark in dentistry at the University of Missouri Kansas City Dental School in 1983. After graduating in 1987, the Armfield's purchased the dental practice of Dr. Tom Day in Augusta, KS. Melodee practiced dentistry with her husband in Augusta for 31 years at Armfield Dentistry.

Melodee had a drive to help others and always strove to participate to the highest degree in anything she involved herself in. In the dental community she served as President of the UMKC Association of Women Dental Students, President of Xi Psi Phi Dental Fraternity, President and Vice President of the Seventh District Dental Society, President of the Kansas Dental Association, as a delegate on the Board of Delegates of the KDA, Chair of the Membership Committee of the KDA, on the dental advisory board for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas, and President of the UMKC Dental Alumni Association. She was even the catcher for the UMKC Dental School's co-ed intramural softball team while in dental school. She was a member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American College of Dentists where she served as a district regent. She was recognized as Dentist of the Year in 2020 by the Kansas Dental Association. Melodee loved the practice of dentistry and working with others to improve her profession for dentists and dental students.

Melodee was a member of the Augusta United Methodist Church where she served on many committees and sung in the Chancel Choir. She was a member of PEO Chapter AF and the Augusta Optimist. Melodee was Vice President of both her book club and her investment club.

The Armfields were a host family to five exchange students: Steffen Wenz, Konrad Giesler, Valentine Rampmeir, Sven Lippoldt of Germany, and Alexandra (Sasha) Poshlyakova of Russia. Melodee loved to share her home with these students and formed many meaningful relationships with the students and their families.

Melodee was a gifted artist in drawing, sewing, jewelry fabrication, stained glass, cake decorating, cooking, and flower arrangement. She loved and cared for all those around her. She was a gift to those who knew her and will be missed.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July, 20, 2025 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta, KS. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2025, at Augusta United Methodist Church, Augusta, KS. Memorial donations may be made to the Augusta United Methodist Church 2420 N. Ohio Augusta, KS 67010 to be used for the Chancel Choir.
