James Lovell "Jim" Weaver of rural Augusta passed away August 12, 2025. He was born November 6, 1947, the fourth of six children, to Theodore W. Weaver Jr and Josephine Lovell Weaver. He grew up on the family farm and attended Augusta public schools. He then earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Kansas State University where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. After serving in the U S Navy, he spent a few years in California before returning to Augusta, where he earned aeronautical engineering degrees from Wichita State University and worked in the local aircraft industry.
Jim enjoyed active sports such as skiing, white water rafting and kayaking, motorcycling and roller skating. He liked all forms of art and dabbled in pottery, painting, metal work, and music. Nieces and nephews remember him as a jovial middle-aged man singing and playing his guitar or juggling.
Jim is survived by siblings Tad, Dan, Jane, and Connie and sixteen nieces and nephews and their many children. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Tom.
Memorial service will be planned at a later date.
