Gloria J. Buthe

Gloria J. Buthe, 64, of Augusta, KS, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026 in Wichita, Kansas. Private inurnment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will hold a celebration of life from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the Augusta Historic Frisco Depot, 618 State St., Augusta, KS. All are invited to join the family for refreshments and sharing memories. A continuation of her celebration will be held at a later date during harvest at the Meckling farm in Meckling, SD.

Gloria J. (Huffman) Buthe was born in Canton, SD in a grain truck in the hospital parking lot to parents Charles and Shirley (Oppold) Huffman on July 31, 1961. She was raised on a farm outside of Worthing, SD, and attended school in Harrisburg, SD. On June 22, 1985 she married Kenneth Mark Buthe. They had two boys, Cory R. Buthe and Bradley J. Buthe. They moved to Augusta, KS in 1987. Along with raising her sons with her husband, she was employed for 30 years at the local optometrist office; 25 years for Doctors Crum and Todd and 5 years for Doctors Todd and Giannetti. Her deepest joy was her family. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, flowers, sunsets, water fun, and spending time at their lake home for many years.

Grateful for sharing her life, her survivors include; husband, Kenneth Mark Buthe; her son, Cory Buthe; grandkids, Clara Buthe, Ty Willhite, Reece Willhite, Ean Buthe, and Alexandria Buthe; sisters, Rhonda McDonald, Sherri Kitchenmaster (Paul) and Julie Beasley (Dewayne); brothers, Charles D. Huffman (Peggy) and Jeff Huffman along with their families.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Charles Huffman; son, Bradley Buthe; grandson, Garrett Allen Buthe; sister, Rhita; and brother, Bruce Huffman.
