Georgetta "Sue" Dennett

Georgetta "Sue" Dennett, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at the age of 91. Born on January 11, 1935 to George and Ruby Carinder in Sterling, Kansas, she was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Wayne and Jack Carinder.

Sue graduated from Emporia State Teachers College with both a B.S. in Education and a Master's in Education. She dedicated 29 years of her life to shaping young minds as a devoted elementary school teacher at Grandview Elementary in El Dorado. Her passion for education and her unwavering commitment to her students left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of learning from her.

She enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Community Center in Augusta and at Fig Tree in Harlingen. In the winter months, Sue and David would escape the cold and head to Harlingen, TX to the Fig Tree RV Resort where they could enjoy the outdoors. She always took her sewing machine and sewing with her.

She was a devoutly religious Christian and a member of Augusta United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Dennett. She is survived by: her daughter, Patty Brown (Mike) of Fountain Hills, AZ; her son, Danny Davisson (Jami) of Sand Springs, OK; and her cherished grandchildren, Brandon Brown, Lauren Edwards (James), and Chase Davisson (Kelly). She was also a proud great-grandmother to eight wonderful great-grandchildren: Ivy, Paisley and Kai Brown, Clayton and Audrey Edwards, and Wyatt, Cooper and Noah Davisson who brought immense joy to her life. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Wilma Talbert, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Known affectionately as Grandma Jo by some and Grammy by others, Sue was celebrated for her caring, fun and loving nature. Her warmth and kindness touched the hearts of all who knew her and her legacy as a devoted and loving grandmother and great-grandmother will be remembered forever. She will also be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering patience, and her infectious smile. She had a heart full of love and compassion, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her kindness knew no bounds, and she was a pillar of strength and support for her family and friends.

As we celebrate her life, we take comfort in the beautiful memories she leaves behind. Her legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Augusta United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Augusta United Methodist Church in her memory.
