Edward Lyle Freeman, 92, of Augusta, KS passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025 in Winfield, KS. Visitation 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Headley Funeral Chapel. Service 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2025, at First Christian Church, Augusta, KS. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery Augusta, KS. Ed was born in Bloomington, KS on March 23, 1933, to the late Eva Leona (Shafer) and Ivanho Freeman and was raised around the Leon, KS area. He received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Wichita State University. He served in the U.S. Army. Ed worked at the post office for a few years and later worked as an IRS agent for several years, finally retiring on his birthday in 1988. Ed was very active in the community and was a member of the Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge, York Rite, and Scottish Rite, the American Legion, and had also served on the Augusta City Council. A man of faith, Ed was also a member of the First Christian Church in Augusta, KS. On December 17, 1952 he married his loving wife Tokie (Ono) Freeman in Kyoto, Japan who survives him. He is also survived by: son, Ivan Freeman and wife Rosemary; daughter, Mary Goodwin; daughter in law, Alison Freeman; grandchildren, Adam Goodwin (Melissa), Erin Claflin (Shaun), Kelly Geiger (Matt), Sean Freeman (Maya), Stephen Freeman (Alicia), Paul Freeman, Julia Freeman, and Daniel Freeman; 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, John; brothers, Harold, Earl, and Warren Freeman. Memorial donations to Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge #74, P. O.
