Charles Edward Hobbs, 73, of Leon, KS, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta, KS.
Charles was born in Wichita, KS on January 4, 1953, to the late Emma Lela (Lenertz) Leavitt and Curtis Zenith Hobbs.
Charlie spent his early years in Coldwater, KS and throughout Comanche County working on numerous ranches as a farrier, ranch hand, and making it to as many rodeos as possible. He attended Butler County College and studied animal science.
He married Bobbi Zenishek in 1972 and lived in Elk County for many years. Charles continued his work as a rancher for much of his life and also worked for a concrete company. He was married to Lindy (Garren) Hobbs for 43 years and made a home in Leon. She survives him. Charlie is also survived by his children, Shannon (Hobbs) Dudley, Christopher and Stacey Simpson, Dr Christopher and Kristin Zenishek and Beth Simpson; sisters, Rita Day and husband Willie, and Virgie Harrison; grandchildren, Blake, Willow, and Eden Dudley, Michael Zenner, Kethan Simpson, Kelton and Roby Zenishek. He was preceded in death by his brother, John William "Bill" Hobbs. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
