Carolyn Jean Holland, 90, a beloved mother, sister, and aunt to many passed away peacefully Friday, January 2, 2026 in Wichita. She was born in Wichita, Kansas on August 21, 1935 and was known for her vivacious and outgoing spirit, her unique style, and her ability to design was beyond compare. Her entrepreneurial spirit came to be known as "Carolyn's Touch". She was truly a unique individual and will be truly missed.
Carolyn spent her formative years in Sedgwick and Butler communities and graduated from Augusta High School in 1953. After graduation she married her high school sweetheart, Frank Wilson, and together they moved around the country to several Army bases as he was stationed. Later they returned and settled in the Wichita area.
In her youth, she enjoyed water skiing, ice skating and roller rink skating.
She was hired by the Kansas Turnpike Authority and worked until retirement after almost 40 years. She also traveled around the Sedgwick County area for many years with her art booth known as "Carolyn Chicken Shack" where she sold her creative made folk art. She was very talented and her designs were loved by many. Carolyn made and sold art well into her 70's.
Carolyn spent her leisure time outdoors indulging in her passion for gardening and her large Koi pond. Her gardens were full of vibrant flowers and showed her unique ability in design and color combinations, which was a testament to her nurturing spirit and love for nature.
She also enjoyed helping the Shriners at the Masonic Home, loved WSU sporting events, and big into high school reunions on the decor committee.
Carolyn is survived by her son Todd Wilson (Brandy Clarkson); longtime companion, Frank Thome; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of many years Phillip Holland; her parents, Sally (Burkhart) and William Stevens; adoptive parents, Cecil and Kathryn Stevens, brothers, William and Joseph Stevens, and sisters, Hazel Rule and Lucille Dearing.
A graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2026 at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta, KS. Those attending should use the Ohio Street entrance.
