A. Kent Lanier

Alvin Kent Lanier, 81, of Augusta, KS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at home. Kent was born in Alton, IL on December 31, 1943, to the late Alta Lee (Moore) and Jesse Alvin Lanier. His family settled in Alabama where he attended Demopolis High School and was a star athlete. After high school, Kent served in the U.S. Air Force as an A1C from 1962-1966, and was proud to be a Veteran who served his country. Kent met his future wife, Jeanette (Monts) on a blind date, and they married on February 7, 1969. Kent and Jeanette have two daughters, Carol and Paige, and the family lived in the south for many years, but in September of 1985, the family took a big leap of faith and moved to Kansas for Kent's new position with Becker Corporation. Kent was a hard worker all of his life, starting with a paper route as a young boy and ending his professional career with his bucket list dream of owning his own business. His lifelong dream came true in 1997 when he purchased A. Brown Liquor, which he owned for seventeen years.

Kent enjoyed working in his yard, sometimes cutting the grass twice a week. He took a lot of pride in his yard and home. Kent was a dedicated husband, father and businessman. He loved spending time with his daughters, his grandchildren, and his extended family - calling to always tell them that he loved them, especially his last year.

Kent is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeanette; his two daughters, Carol Solenberger and husband Daniel of Prairie Village, KS, and Paige Lanier of Lawrence, KS. His five beloved grandchildren, Reagan Lanier and Landon Dale Solenberger, Evan River, Naaman Jesse, and Owen Reilly. His three sisters, Mary Cole of Pinson, AL, Janice Morgan of Demopolis, AL, and Susan Jones of Gardendale, AL. A private family memorial service will be held.
