Blanch Larue Saltkill Obituary

Blanche LaRue Saltkill, 81, of Augusta, KS, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 22, 2019. Blanche Larue Saltkill known to everyone as Larue was born in Beggs, OK on March 28, 1937, to the late Venus DeMilo (Thrash) and Robert Howard Dunn. As a child Larue grew up in Reed Springs, MO with her mother and step father, Martin Van Buren Hunt, both now deceased. Larue was the oldest of the three children. She has a sister, Mary Lou Hodges of Moore, OK and brother, Martin Hunt, Jr., deceased. Larue was mother to six children:  Frank Chambers and wife Angie of Wichita; Randy Chambers, deceased, and formerly of Greely, CO; Mary Chambers Ratcliff of Wichita; Shawna McGrew and husband Guy of Augusta; Beverly Burnham and husband Curt of Augusta; and Robert Saltkill and wife Jeannie of Boliver, MO. She has 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Larue was a hard worker and kept busy. She had many years of working in aircraft and as a nursing aide among other jobs as she provided for the family. She enjoyed her family, traveling, church activities, her beloved pets, and gardening. Larue attended Life Church of Augusta, KS and enjoyed meeting with the friends at the local senior center. She is remembered as being a special feisty little lady who was kind and generous and always made people feel loved and welcome. She was a living example of Matthew 5:8, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children of God".  Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday February 27, 2019 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Life Church, Augusta. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery Augusta, KS.
