Richard E. Forpahl

Richard E Forpahl, 80, of Augusta, KS, passed away quietly on March 8, 2024. Richard struggled with cancer and is now at peace with the Lord. As a life-long resident of Augusta, Richard resided on the Forpahl family homestead with his wife of 22 years, Anna (Frazier) Forpahl. Richard was born April 17, 1943 in Wichita, KS to Edward M Forpahl and Dorothy (Corbin) Forpahl of Augusta. Richard lived as a man of God and loved the Lord. He believed everyone was deserving of kindness, respect and he always set a good example. He was very content with what he had, and was a loyal, honest, easy going, down to earth man. Rich was well loved and respected by his family, friends, and willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Retired from Texaco Refinery, Rich did what he loved most, raising, selling cattle, and most of all meeting with his friends at the weekly cattle sales barn. Rich held a lifelong love of the Cowboy life riding and roping on horses as he was born and raised on a working cattle ranch. Richard is survived by sons, Curtis Rierson and his wife Mandi of Wichita; Evan Forpahl of Douglass; Brian Zimmerman and wife Rose of Cheney; and Brent Leedom and wife Michelle of Andover; daughters, Jacque Forpahl of Wichita; Kristen Evans and husband Chris of Dallas, TX; Kim Cannady and husband Mike of Augusta; and Sherri Leedom of Wichita; sisters Marilyn Clark and husband Roger of Pawhuska, OK; Barbara Scheer and husband Gary of Tuscon, AZ; Ruth Ann Tipton of Augusta; and Carol Hart and husband Mark of Tuscon AZ; and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geri (Zimmerman) Forpahl; and a brother Eugene “Gene” Forpahl. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at First Baptist Church, 1501 State St., Augusta, KS. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta, KS.
