Margaret Ann Shepherd

Margaret Ann Shepherd, 92, of Wichita, KS and formerly of Towanda, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024 in Wichita. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024 at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Rosary will be at 10:00 a.m. followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at St. James Catholic Church, Augusta, KS. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery Augusta, KS. Margaret was born on a farm north of Afton, Iowa on December 2, 1931, the third of six children of Ethyl (Heine) and John Frueh. Marg attended Union County schools until graduating from St. Joseph's Academy, Des Moines Iowa in 1949. On January 27, 1951 she married Jack B. Shepherd at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Afton, Iowa. They shared 63 years of marriage in Omaha, NE, Council Bluffs, IA, Sioux City, IA, Benton, KS and Towanda, KS. She had worked for Mutual of Omaha, Learjet, Butler County Appraiser office and Towanda State Bank. She is survived by: sons, Michael Shepherd and wife Rhonda; David Shepherd and wife Mary; and Daniel Shepherd; daughters, Christine Greb and husband Patrick; Lora Self; Julia Aitchison and husband Dan; and Ann Carpenter and husband Will; brothers, Bill Frueh and Charles Frueh; a sister, Sister Patricia Frueh; 19 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack B. Shepherd; brother, Jack E. Frueh; sister, Claudine Frueh; grandson, Jacob Self; and great grandsons, Tanner and Eden Self.
