Don Ridgway Obituary

Don Ridgway, 96, of Augusta, KS, passed away on March 9th, 2024. 

Don was born February 20th, 1928, in Montana.  His mother passed away a couple of weeks after Don was born.  His father moved Don and his brother to McClouth, KS to be raised by his grandparents and his Aunt Merle.

Don graduated from Lawrence High School in December 1945.  In January 1946 he enlisted in the Navy to serve our country.  He was a World War II veteran.
After the Navy, Don returned to Lawrence, KS and attended the University of Kansas.  He graduated from KU with a degree in Pharmaceutical. 

After college he moved to Scott City, KS.  In Scott City he met Nancy Richardson.  They were married on June 11th, 1955.  While living in Scott City they had three children, Merle, Donnie and Bill.  In 1962 they moved to Augusta, KS with the dream of owning a Drug Store.  After moving to Augusta, they added two more children to their large family, Morris and Ann.  In 1973 Don achieved his dream of owning a Drug Store, Ridgway Drug in Augusta, KS.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Anne Ridgway, and two sons, Bill and Morris.

Don is survived by his wife, Nancy of 68 years; daughter Merle (Pat) Laham, son Donnie (Susan) Ridgway, daughter Ann (Todd) Swendson; granddaughter, Pattie (Trinty) Haskins, granddaughter; Meghan (Kevin) Moberley, grandson, Daniel Swendson, grandson, Denver Ridgway (Kendi Ripperger) and 6 great-grandchildren.

The family will hold a private graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta, KS. Memorial donations can be made to Kansas Lions Sight Foundation, c/o Augusta Lions Club, P. O. Box 515, Augusta, KS 67010.
